Blu-Ray backup

The proccess of backing up or "ripping" movies has been around for a long time now.

Many people do it for different reasons. You will have to look into the laws about this by your self, and i recomond you do not do this proccess as it is just for education.

The main reason people backup their movies is costs. The orignal content (CD / HDDVD / Bluray / VHS) can cost quite alot compared to the low cost of backing it up.

Convenience is going to be the next main reason, it goes hand in hand with this website, why play with discs when you can back up the movie directly to your ps3 (and then another computer) and then perhaps stream it across your network.

To do this, you will need to install the PS3's own version of Linux called Yellow Dog linux.

From there you are able to access the Bluray drive directly and thus back it up onto the PS3 internal hardrive or another networked computer.

In the following days i will write a complete guide from how to install Linux on the PS3 and how to backup bluray movies and then how to play back that moive or stream it to the ps3 using any of the said media server listed here.
